A project more than a year in the making by the Austin American-Statesman, "Existing as transgender in Texas," spotlights the stories of transgender and nonbinary teens and their families in a state that is weighing removing access to gender-affirming care for them.

Theirs are stories of living in fear, but also in discovering hope through each other.

As you watch, you'll journey with a family that travels over 2,000 miles in search of a "refuge" for their daughter and themselves. An intersex advocate that questions who can and can't access puberty blockers in Texas. A parent and child who explore gender expression through drag, an athlete looking for acceptance in their sport, and a pair of siblings redefining what gender means to them.
